Dried piquin chili, also known as chile pequín or bird’s eye chili, is a small, fiery hot chili pepper that is commonly used in Mexican and Southwestern US cuisine. It is about 1/2 inch in length, and is red color.
Dried piquin chili is often used to add heat and flavor to dishes such as salsas, soups, stews, and marinades. It has a very high Scoville rating, which measures the heat level of chili peppers, and is considered to be one of the hottest chilies available.
