Pastel Azteca or “Mexican Lasagna”, as some people call it, is one of the Mexican culinary wonders that is not known much outside the country and it’s a real delight.

The flavor brings together all the traditional elements of traditional flavors such as poblano chili, corn tortillas, chicken, and green sauce. This recipe has a sweet flavor, if you want to add extra heat, look into our hot sauces assortment.
Ingredients
(Serves 2 people)

2 Chicken Breasts

1 Poblano pepper or green pepper

1 white onion
-
240gr Green Sauce
-
200gr Mexican Manchego Cheese or Oaxaca Cheese

Sunflower Oil
-
Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions

Boil the chicken breasts in a pot of salted water for about 25 minutes. When they are ready we will unravel them and reserve them.

Chop the onion, devein the poblano pepper and cut it into cubes.

Fry the onion for a couple of minutes, add the poblano pepper and the shredded chicken.

Season with salt and pepper, stir, and leave on low heat for about 10 minutes.

Fry each tortilla in a pan with a little oil and place the first level of tortillas in a dish.

Pour a part of the chicken mixture, a little green sauce, and cheese. We cover with more tortillas and repeat the process again until all the ingredients are finished.

Bake at 180ºC for about 20 minutes.

Serve and enjoy
The best way to eat this delicious Pastel Azteca is hot and fresh from the oven. In the case of a complete plate, it is usually eaten only for lunch or dinner.
