Fish Strips (or Tiritas de Pescado in Spanish) are very similar to ceviche but with fewer ingredients and require a shorter preparation time. Here's the recipe for how to prepare fish strips, just like on the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo beaches. It is an easy recipe that anyone can prepare at home, the taste is spectacular, do not forget to try them.
This is an easy-to-make fish cocktail where it is usually made with marlin fish. The fish is thinly sliced into small 2-inch strips about ¼ inch thick, which are quickly marinated with lemon juice and then mixed with sliced red onions and seasoned with chilies, oregano, salt, and pepper.
Without further ado let's look at the recipe:
Ingredients
(Serves 6)
500gr of Tilapia Fish Fillet or similar
½ cup lemon juice
½ medium red onion finely sliced
2 serrano peppers, finely diced
2 teaspoons dried Mexican oregano
Salt and pepper to taster
To Serve:
Corn Tostadas or crackers
Instructions
Cut the fish fillet into small 5cm strips
Place the lemon juice in a glass bowl. Add the fish strips and marinate for 5 minutes.
Add the rest of the ingredients, mix and serve immediately with corn tostadas or crackers.
You can always substitute the type of pepper according to your tolerance to spicy food, jalapeno, for milder heat, or habanero a hotter flavor
