This creamy avocado sauce is very popular in Central Mexico, it is common to be served as an accompaniment to the famous and delicious "Tacos al Pastor", to add spiciness to bbq meats, and with some delicious carnitas tacos. It is a very fresh sauce since the ingredients of this sauce are raw.
The tomatillo and avocado sauce is also known as "guacamole" sauce, as it is also used as a snack, served with some tortilla chips.
This is a traditional recipe and super easy to prepare, we recommend preparing it at your next taco fiesta enjoying the company of your family and friends. Everyone will thank you ;)
Ingredients
(Serves 1.5 Cups)
3 Tomatillos, peeled and cut into chunks
2 green serrano chiles or for a milder taste green jalapeno or for a hotter taste habaneros (or add more peppers with seeds)
6 coriander sprigs
2 tablespoons chopped onion
1 garlic clove
1 medium hass avocado, just the pulp
⅓ cup of water
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Place the tomatillos in the blender along with the onion, garlic, Serrano pepper, and water. Blend until the salsa has a thick consistency. Just make sure the sauce still looks thick or chunky.
Add the cilantro and avocado. Blend again. Process the salsa until it has a creamy and uniform consistency.
Place the sauce in a sauceboat, and season with salt and pepper. Enjoy!
If you don't use all of the sauce on the same day, keep it refrigerated. It will last up to 3 days in the refrigerator.
