Peruvian cuisine is extraordinary and at Cloc Food we want to share with you a wide variety of typical Peruvian recipes that you can prepare without problems at home, we will start with Causa de atún (tuna dish).
"Causa" is one of the most representative dishes of Peruvian gastronomy. It is made with potato and ají amarillo (yellow chili) and is complemented with other ingredients such as tuna, chicken, avocado, and boiled egg, among others.
To give it the traditional touch of Peru, follow at home this simple recipe:
Ingredients
(Serves 4 people)
1 kg of yellow potato
¼ cup of vegetable oil
2 lemons
1 teaspoon of ají Amarillo (yellow chili)
180 gr of tuna in oil
½ red onion
1 tomato
2 avocados
2 cups of mayonnaise
8 olives
2 boiled eggs
Black pepper
Salt
Parsley
Instructions
Peel and wash all the potatoes, place them in a pot with water and boil until they soften enough to make mashed potatoes.
Season the yellow mashed potatoes with salt, pepper, lemon, chili, and oil. Besides, mix the previously drained tuna with mayonnaise and the finely chopped onion.
Reserve for each mixture separately, so we will obtain the two base preparations of our tuna Causa.
To assemble the dish we will need a kitchen ring. Place it on the plate where you are going to serve the Causa and add the first layer of mashed potatoes, then add a portion of tuna and on top add finely chopped tomato and avocado slices.
To finish, add another layer of mashed potatoes and refrigerate until serving time.
Decorate the plate to taste, with strips of pepper, boiled egg, mayonnaise, and a touch of parsley.
This dish is a fantastic starter and you can combine it with other famous creations of Peruvian cuisine such as fish ceviche or squid chicharrón.
Enjoy your meal and stay tuned for more easy recipes to cook at home!
